Antillas

Thursday night was the Mates of State concert. I remember seeing them at Fun Fun Fun Fest last year and she was pregnant. They are the cutest couple. Toms was giving out free shoes though. I thought they should at least have had a shoe decorating station, haha. Ingenious, I know.

Friday, I went to Cool Kids and Voxtrot with friends. Mohawk looks so much nicer now, I like it. After that, we went to see my friend Jose (Go Go Garcia) play his 90's party at Creekside. It was an incredible dance party, despite dancing next to the crazy slut who stole from AA and tried to get us in trouble.

Saturday, we went to Black & Tan to see Karinne's friend Jorge (Abominatron) play. The best part was the short stripper (?) girl busting her moves and then tripping. I like amaretto sours.

That was my weekend. And I'm sad I didn't snag a Cut Copy ticket. And I'm sad I missed Band of Horses yesterday!!! Sigh.

BTW, if anyone has/had Washington Mutual as their bank, let me know so I can ask you a few questions for my journalism paper. :)

OH! And I think my coworker, Elliott's band, Ringo Deathstarr, is opening for Saul Williams on Thursday. They are so good. I am their #1 fan! Yay.

Y, finalmente:

Baby baby,

Some interesting events coming up:

Liam E. McGee, the President of Global Consumer and Small Business for Bank of America is speaking at the b-school on Tuesday. Normally, I couldn't give a shit about who they usually bring, but I have a feeling this one could be a bit interesting... with the Merrill Lynch drama and the soon-to-come death of the U.S. economy. :)

Also, Morgan Spurlock, of Super Size Me fame, will be speaking at the Texas Union on Thursday. Tickets were released starting last Thursday, but I'm sure there are still more. I believe Super Size Me will also be screened tomorrow night.

And finally, Saul Williams will be performing in the Ballroom on Oct. 2 (my birthday!) hopefully with Lions as the opener. Tickets will be released starting Thursday and it's free.

Well, everything I talked about is free.

---

This weekend I went back to Dallas and all I have to say is that if you're a girl, you need to go to Nordstrom Rack on Preston and Park. Oh my balls, it's fucking Christmas! If you are a regular shopper there, I am telling you this past weekend's visit was over-the-top incredible. The end.

Also, I went to the Plano Balloon Festival and saw two kids on leashes. A-W-E-S-O-M-E.

Lastly, Blue Mesa Grill has the fucking best brunch ever. Unless it's 3 in the morning, then you need to go to Cafe Brazil.

My cat's eating my hair, so until next time... <3

If you've had your head stuck up your a-hole,
now would be a good time to pull it out and read the paper.

Mohawk will be having a free afterparty with The Cool Kids, Voxtrot, and Belaire.

it's 21+ but... we'll figure something out hopefully.

---

Paste Magazine is having a pre-ACL kick-off party.

if TOMS is sponsoring, do we get free shoes? Probably not. But Mates of State will be there! And it's free. And it's 18+.

Canvas Oxfords, Ratatat, THE FIFTH

Whilst in Paris this past summer, I spotted canvas oxford shoes that Parisian boys were sporting... and I managed to find a pair in Montmartre by Schmoove for my friend Kris... but I couldn't find a girls' version!

So, the other day I was at Shoe Pavilion because it's going out of business. And I found them!!! Of all places! I love them, they are my new babies.

So fresh.

Tonight was the sold out Ratatat show at Stubbs. It was pretty amazing. Their video graphics were awesome. I liked their haircuts. They played my favorite song, Montanita. :)

Finally, a new urban art gallery, THE FIFTH, has opened on E. 5th St. (no duh). I think their goal is to showcase hip-hop culture outside of music. Whatever their intentions are, I think this is so awesome and I want a friend to go with! Let me know if you are interested.

Chuco's Tacos ... reborn.

Chuco's Tacos, which after facing legal troubles after basically copying the supposed greatness of the El Paso chain, Chico's Tacos... and then became 10th Street Tacos... and then took like a month hiatus of "renovation"... is now The Screaming Goat. What?! Ok. It better taste the same.

See you at Ratatat tomorrow.

Madewell and Minnetonka

Madewell at the Domain gives you 20% off any purchase if you're a college student. And J.Crew gives you 10% off!

Anyhow, I got sweet Minnetonka boots there for less than $50, which excites me.They also have very soft cardigans in every color.

Just fyi.
