The Art of Watercolor.

So I'm not sure if this artist, Ben Tour, that I just found on ffffound! is using watercolor, but he's very skilled in his shading and outlining, nonetheless.





So I have been trying to get back into doing more art since break started. Basically, just watercolor and sharpie. I've cranked out two and I have another on the way... here's one of them.



The picture is kind of low-res but it's of me and dani baby. Yay for art.

Post-It Note Art

Weburbanist.com did some crazy shit with post-it notes. I'm definitely inspired. I brought back the majority of my art supplies from home, so I'm gonna start getting back into the groove of that as well. Anyway, check out this:

A.P.C. wears your jeans for you. How nice.

The French clothing label that is kind of a big deal if you wear it here in the states, none other than A.P.C., has a new denim line called "Butler Worn Out". Basically, instead of you having to break into your new jeans and make them look worn-in, someone else is going to do it for you and you can buy them new... already old! It's kind of laughable, but the thing is, I am almost positive someone will go crazy for these ... premium pairs of denim that have been so personally broken-in by someone else's ass. I mean, if I was given a pair, I would probably be excited. But that's because I'm too poor to own anything from A.P.C. at this point, anyhow. Soon enough, though... soon enough.

Premium ass-rubbed denim. Yummy!

I tried Guero's for the first time on Saturday. Why haven't I been there in my past 3 years in Austin, I don't know... I always wanted to be one of the people sitting on the patio ... but I don't have a big dog... and it seems like you need to have a big dog to fit in. Anyway, nothing was really that memorable except their spicy spicy spicy red salsa. Yummmz.

But whilst in SoCo... spotted this super-cute graffiti.

And then later that night I saw this really crazy house with really intense Christmas lights up on Windsor.

And then I dressed my cat up as Santa.

Charlie Claus.

Canvas Oxfords, Ratatat, THE FIFTH

Whilst in Paris this past summer, I spotted canvas oxford shoes that Parisian boys were sporting... and I managed to find a pair in Montmartre by Schmoove for my friend Kris... but I couldn't find a girls' version!

So, the other day I was at Shoe Pavilion because it's going out of business. And I found them!!! Of all places! I love them, they are my new babies.



So fresh.

Tonight was the sold out Ratatat show at Stubbs. It was pretty amazing. Their video graphics were awesome. I liked their haircuts. They played my favorite song, Montanita. :)

Finally, a new urban art gallery, THE FIFTH, has opened on E. 5th St. (no duh). I think their goal is to showcase hip-hop culture outside of music. Whatever their intentions are, I think this is so awesome and I want a friend to go with! Let me know if you are interested.

Kehinde Wiley @ AMOA

So today I was flipping through the Chronicle and I saw that the Austin Museum of Art is having this exhibition called, "Where Are We Going? Contemporary Artists Address Issues of the 21st Century"...

Anyhow, one of the artists that caught my eye was Kehinde Wiley. I first learned about him through Vanity Fair magazine. He brings modern and traditional together. He definitely has a particular style... traditionally featuring African Americans in heroic...jesus-like... louis xiv...madonna...-like poses against patterned backgrounds. Anyhow, I feel like he could appeal to a lot of people. It's not blatant abstract expressionism that people either love or hate... it's not traditional Renaissance style paintings... or landscapes... it's fresh. it's so sweet... haha. I don't know how much of his work is really featured in this exhibition, but I really want to go and see it anyway.
